Stephen King has written over 60 novels to date. He has dozens of short stories as well. An important question I want to ask, 'Which book is his BEST?"
As a fan who is reading this, you probably already have a title in mind. King himself has been asked what his favorite book is on many occasions, and although he doesn't always give the same answer, he seems to lean toward Misery a lot of the time.
How do you choose a favorite book out of so many amazing stories? Is it the one you relate to the most or the bestseller? Well, I am going to say that as a hardcore Constant Reader, I love all of them and they all have a special place in my heart! If I must pick just one favorite book, I'm picking On Writing.
I have two reasons for picking this one as the one I feel is “best.” This book is a window into the experiences and inspiration for all of King's works, and it is chock-full of helpful advice for anyone who wishes to take a stab at being an author.
I have no grand illusions of writing a book even remotely as good as any of King’s, but I'm sure there are some Constant Readers who could do such a thing. I listened to On Writing via audiobook, narrated by Stephen King himself. He has a kind of peculiar voice, I must say, but hearing him tell stories about his childhood and all the experiences that shaped him as a writer was so inspirational and gives us an interesting peek into his personal life.
Now I might have to write a blog post about King's worst book...or I could just leave that one alone.
